Frequently Asked Questions
In the last decade, Investment Resources has worked with clients in a variety of industries. And, regardless of the niche, these are some common questions we receive from business owners.
Why do I need to hire someone to search when I can just go to a search engine?
Indeed, the Internet is an unlimited source of information that only continues to expand and grow. However, it can also prove to be the world's largest time waster, as you wander through dead ends, overloads of information or everything you never wanted to know. Investment Resources has been searching the web since 1993, and can typically locate information in a fraction of the time, keeping you focused on your customers.
Is all of your work based on Internet search?
While the Internet is a great place to begin, human contact is still the driver of most business relationships. Each project is based on the right balance of online search and human interaction in order to gain the maximum insight.
How can I find money to start my business?
Investment Resources is not a source of capital. However, we undertstand the challenges of gaining access to early stage money in the Midwest. One of the keys to success is having a realistic business plan backed by realistic assumptions. We can help you locate that market data.
Do you write business plans?
We believe that a business plan can only truly be written by the business owner. However, we have read hundreds of plans and are always available to find research, build models or provide constructive suggestions to bring those plan parts all together into a coherent document.
How much do you charge for services?
Most projects are priced on an hourly basis with a detailed listing of the deliverables. Typically a minimum project is 20 hours, with the majority of projects falling between 20 and 50 hours. While we can certainly provide quick sanpshots of information in less time, this does not allow us to customize information specifically for the client and generally results in data that doesn't add value to the business. Discounts are provided for longer term engagements or non-profit organizations. Rates are slightly higher for last minute projects. In any case the initial one hour consultation is always at no cost to you.
